25th/26th June 2016. Veteran SAS Operative Colin Maclachlan and former presenter of Channel 4’s SAS: Who Dares Wins has become an ambassador for the elite military charity Pilgrim Bandits Charity. Colin kicked off his support by playing a key part in the charity’s first Escape and Evade Weekend fundraiser for the New Forest based charity.
Andre Edwards, general manager for Pilgrim Bandits explained. “We are delighted to have Colin on board representing what we do – he certainly knows the drill. Having him as a part of this weekend’s Escape and Evade Event fundraiser really added to the authenticity for all those taking part.”
Pilgrim Bandits Charity is based in the New Forest, Hampshire and provides gruelling expeditions for amputee and injured servicemen and women from all the armed forces as well as Fire, Police and Ambulance services. The charity also visits schools, care homes, colleges and young offenders’ institutes to inspire underprivileged young people in partnership with the Prince’s Trust. Pilgrim Bandits is also the only military charity to fund Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy to speed recovery. The charity also provides residential training (it is currently saving towards its own facilities on the South Coast) for valuable kayaking qualification to enable injured to combine their military and professional skills with credentials to find employment in the leisure sector.
Colin said “Pilgrim Bandits Charity has been on my radar for a while. They are a bunch of nonconformists, who really do things in their own way. I’m delighted to be part of the team and last weekend was a huge success. I look forward to building on it with similar events across the country.”
